The PVC material of white rings was apparently softer than the rest of the colours. Many more white rings were broken while banding and we all (ringers) reported it in different countries. In the picture it may be notized that a piece of that white ring has already been lost.

The bird was banded in Alt Sammit, Cossensee, near Krakow, Germany, on 18 Jun. 1999, by G. Nowald, V. Günther, S. Röper, T. Fichtner and H. Dirks. It was the only young of that family.
