(Transmitter) / Yellow-Green-Red

This bird was banded in Gallocanta Lake, Spain, on 29 Nov. 1990, by J.A. Alonso and J.C. Alonso. It was also provided with a leg transmitter mounted on the left tibia.

Since the marking date it has been observed a number of times, most of them in again Gallocanta. On 24 Feb. 1995 JMñ reported, for the first time, the antenna being already lost, although the transmitter was still in place. In the next month, (24 Mar. 1995) reported the observation of this bird to the Hiddensee banding station, not reporting any transmitter.

The picture was shot on 15 Feb. 2000  by V. Munier, who observed the black leather tube on the left tibia, where the leg-transmitter was mounted upon banding. We attached this transmiter by means of plastic strips to a soft black leather tube, similar to a long black ring, so that the transmitter could be lost once the batteries were out.

In relation to the colours of the rings, we observe that the red colour is quite faded, almost white, ten years after marking. Some ringers' opinion is that this is due to the rubbing against the transmitter, while it was still attached to the left tibia (five years).
